After watching starting quarterback Sam Bradford head to the locker room after suffering an injury to his left leg during Saturday night’s preseason game with the Cleveland Browns, the St. Louis Rams watched another member of their starting offense go down due to injury.

Right guard Rodger Saffold limped off the field late in the first quarter after having his lower right leg rolled up on by Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor on a run play by Zac Stacy.

Saffold needed some assistance to get to his feet but managed to walk off the field under his own power.

Saffold had not appeared in the Rams first two preseason games as he’d been dealing with a shoulder stinger.

Injuries to key offensive players have plagued the Rams for a long time. Saffold hasn’t played more than 12 games in a season since his rookie year of 2010.

Teams just hope to escape the preseason healthy. Up until this point, the Rams have been able to keep their roster largely intact. Injuries to Bradford and Saffold will have the Rams holding their breath.
