Texans give the horns to Ryan Moats

Texans coach Gary Kubiak has said that the team would be cutting a running back before training camp.

And so they have.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Ryan Moats has been waived.

Moats started two games in 2009, earning his first after rushing for 126 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries in a 31-10 win over the Bills.

The remaining running backs on the roster include Steve Slaton, Arian Foster, second-round pick Ben Tate, Chris Henry, and Jeremiah Johnson.

Moats gained some notoriety in 2009 after being detained by a police officer in the parking lot at a hospital while his mother-in-law was dying.

As a four-year veteran, he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
