With today’s start of the legal tampering period, free agents can get a sense of what’s out there for them.

To the Texans’ credit, they’ve been able to keep two of their own.

After retaining right tackle Derek Newton earlier today, they’ve now reached an agreement on a four-year deal with cornerback Kareem Jackson, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

That takes one of the top corners off the market, and keeps the Texans from having to look outside for help at that position.

The fact they’ve aggressively retained a pair of guys today who would have had markets come Tuesday shows they’re willing to spend some money.
