Texas A&M lost both starting defensive ends Monday, with Nic Scourton joining Shemar Stewart in declaring for the NFL draft. Both are expected to be first-round picks.
Scourton announced his decision on Instagram, but the declaration was expected after the junior chose to be recognized on Senior Day.
“Howdy! I would like to thank Texas A&M and Purdue, the coaching staffs, and my teammates for a great college experience,” Scourton wrote. “It has been an honor, and I will be forever grateful.
“To my family and mentors, I truly appreciate the love, support and guidance you have provided me on my journey. I know that I would not be in this position without y’all. I’m excited to experience this next chapter together.
“With that being said, after much thought and consideration, I have decided to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.”
Scourton spent two seasons with the Boilermakers before transferring back home. He made five sacks, 14 tackles for loss, 34 pressures, 37 tackles, two passes defensed and a forced fumble.
He played 25 games at Purdue and totaled 72 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks, three passes defended and two forced fumbles. In 2023, he led the Big Ten with 10 sacks and received second-team all-conference honors.
Scourton did not indicate whether he will participate in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 27 when the Aggies play USC.
