Tony Romo tied for seventh at American Century Championship

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo didn’t get the chance to make the U.S. Open this year, but he does get a chance to show off his golf skills on national television this weekend.

Romo resides in a three-way tie for seventh after the first round of the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, where many of my more important NBC Sports colleagues are working for the week. (It’s at this point I should remind you the tournament will air 3-6 ET Saturday and Sunday or my Sheinhardt Wig Company overlords won’t be happy.)

Romo played with Michael Jordan yesterday and trails leader Jeremy Roenick by five points in “a modified stableford format” that I will probably never understand.

I don’t know much about celebrity golf, but I know this much, Tony: Watch out for Rick Rhoden.
