Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean had a report on Tuesday that Titans quarterback Vince Young was excused for part of a team meeting last week. That report raised some eyebrows among Titans fans who were wondering why Young would want to miss a meeting prior to a big game -- a game that would feature Young getting benched and the Titans losing.
The answer is that Young was spending time with Steve McNair’s sons.
Young has mentored McNair’s sons since their father died, and in a follow-up item today Wyatt writes that Young took Tyler and Trent McNair to a “Dear Dads Breakfast,” an event head coach Jeff Fisher gave him permission to attend several weeks ago.
“He showed up, took them, brought them to school and was quite the hit,’' said Julie Dilworth, admissions director at St. Paul Christian Academy. “He has been so good to those boys. He does a lot with them, great things. I love that it wasn’t just words for him when he said he would help. He has stepped up and done it, and it is a blessing.’'
