When we flipped the switch on our NBC partnership nearly nine days ago (and, amazingly, they haven’t pulled the plug on us yet), we said that nothing would change.
And one thing that won’t change is that we’ll continue to mention in this space from time to time the products and services available from our friends at Sprint.
Most recently, reports emerged that Sprint will be asking many of its equipment providers to equip smart phones with Wi-Fi.
This means (for those of you who are as technologically inept as yours truly) that the device will be able to access the Internet from any nearby wireless hot spots, without having to rely solely upon the Internet access that comes from the Sprint network.
In many cases, high-speed Internet pumping through Wi-Fi is superior to even the fastest mobile wireless networks.
“Sprint is embracing Wi-Fi in all its major devices going forward,” said Sprint’s director of business marketing, Jeff Clemow.
The new Palm Pre already is equipped with Wi-Fi. By next year, Blackberry products will follow suit.
And hopefully come next year Sprint will continue to be the official telecommunications partner of PFT, which hopefully will still be brought to you by NBC.
