Zach Mettenberger thinks he’s shown the Titans enough to be 2015 starter

The Titans haven’t officially ruled him out, but it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger again this season due to the shoulder injury he aggravated in last Sunday’s game.

If so, that leaves Mettenberger with six starts for the Titans to contemplate as they formulate their plans at quarterback for the 2015 season. The Titans didn’t win any of those games and Mettenberger had his ups and downs on the field, but he feels like he did enough to convince coach Ken Whisenhunt and General Manager Ruston Webster that he’s the right man for the job.

“I believe I have shown them enough, I just hope I’ve shown y’all enough to write good columns from here until next season,” Mettenberger said, via the Tennessean. “But I am confident in my abilities and what I have put on the field and what I have put on tape, and I think I have shown ownership, Ruston and the staff that I can play at a high level and I am going to continue to get better.”

The Titans are going to have a high pick in next year’s draft, leaving them to weigh what they’ve seen from Mettenberger against the top quarterback prospects hitting the league this year. It may be that Mettenberger plus a top player at another position proves a better fit for their needs, but it’s hard to imagine the question is anything close to settled at this point.
