Bills S Rafael Bush is retiring from the NFL after eight seasons.

Bush, 32, played for four teams, starting his career in Denver before spending five of his next six seasons with the Saints with a one-year stop with the Lions in between. He played last season in Buffalo and made 91 career appearances mostly as a third safety and special teams ace. The Bills signed S Kurt Coleman to take Bush’s roster spot.

Broncos signed S Rafael Bush off the Falcons practice squad.

With Brian Dawkins (neck) still not back in practice, the Broncos are in need of safety help. Bush went undrafted out of South Carolina State in 2010.

Broncos second-round S Rahim Moore has been passed by practice squad-type Rafael Bush in Denver’s dime packages.

Moore opened the season as a starter, but was benched after five games for poor tackling and coverage -- the perfect storm for a safety. Bush is a career special teamer. He had one tackle in the Wild Card round win.

Saints claimed S Rafael Bush off waivers from the Broncos.

An undrafted free agent out of South Carolina State in 2010, Bush appeared in six games for the Broncos last season, making three tackles. He’ll begin the year on special teams in New Orleans.

    Saints re-signed S Rafael Bush.

Bush broke the news on his Twitter account. He was an exclusive rights free agent. Bush was a special teams linchpin last season, while also contributing an interception on defense. He’ll serve in a similar role in 2013.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports the Saints have engaged in preliminary contract talks with restricted free agents S Rafael Bush and WR Joe Morgan.

That’s in addition to free agents Zach Strief and Parys Haralson. The “low” RFA tender is $1.39 million. The Saints’ No. 3 safety last season, Bush played 520 snaps, grading out positively in Pro Football Focus’ ratings.

Rafael Bush is believed to have a “leg up” in the Lions’ competition at strong safety.

Glover Quin is locked in as the playmaker at free safety. After losing Isa Adbul-Quddus to the Dolphins, the Lions signed Bush and Tavon Wilson before drafting Miles Killebrew in the fourth round. Bush played just 21 snaps last season before tearing his pec. In 2014, he started seven games for the Saints.

MLive reports Rafael Bush is the “clear leader in the clubhouse” for the Lions’ starting strong safety job.

Glover Quin is locked in at free safety, but there is a fairly open competition between Bush, Tavon Wilson, and rookie Miles Killebrew brewing at the other safety spot. Bush appears to have the early lead, but he has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career. Killebrew is the future at the position, and it would not be surprising to see him makes starts this year.

Saints signed S Rafael Bush, formerly of the Lions, to a one-year, $855,000 contract with $100,000 guaranteed.

The deal comes with an $80,000 signing bonus. Bush was the Lions’ No. 3 safety last season, playing 492 snaps. Going on 30, Bush is returning to a team he played for from 2012-15. At least on paper, he’s in the mix for free safety duties, but the Saints will probably give the benefit of the doubt to second-year pro Vonn Bell. The Saints used a considerable amount of three-safety alignments in 2016.

Restricted free agent S Rafael Bush would prefer if the Saints didn’t match the two-year, $4.5 million offer sheet he received from the Falcons.

Bush is currently the Saints’ No. 3 safety and would have a much clearer path to playing time in Atlanta. He’d immediately be the favorite for the Falcons’ free safety job and a playmaking upgrade over 2013 starter Thomas DeCoud. Because the Saints only tendered Bush at the original-round level, New Orleans won’t be entitled to draft-pick compensation if they decide not to match the offer.
