He’ll replace Trev Faulk. The former first-rounder has battled ankle problems this season.

He played just two games last season due to hamstring and knee injuries. The undersized, always injury-prone Thomas is highly unlikely to solve Washington’s woes at strong-side linebacker. H.B. Blades should still be the favorite to start.

He replaces Sam Williams, an Al Davis gem that never panned out. Thomas, a former first-round pick out of UCLA, is athletic and good in ball pursuit, but much smaller than Williams. Neither has been great against the run.

There is no word on the severity yet. Thomas had lost his starting job to Ricky Brown this summer. A serious injury may allow Al Davis’ six-year pet project, Sam Williams, to make the team once again.

Thomas’ injury was not known to be severe, but he’d lost his starting position to Ricky Brown. He may be let go later with an injury settlement.

Thomas was waived/injured just before the season after he had lost his starting spot to Ricky Brown. Now that he’s healthy, he’ll bring depth with the ability to play all three linebacker positions and some special teams.

Thomas suffered the injury during the Raiders Week 9 loss to the Falcons. Marquis Cooper was signed to take his place as reserve linebacker.
