Rookie P Ryan Plackemeier is competing with veteran Tom Rouen and Gabe Lindstrom at Seahawks minicamp.
Plackemeier was a seventh-round pick in April.
  • Seahawks signed rookie P Ryan Plackemeier to a four-year, $1.652 million contract.
And Seattle begins life after Tom Rouen. Plackemeier, a burly 6-3/252-pound seventh-rounder, is competing with NFLE vet Gabe Lindstrom for the ‘Hawks’ starting punting job.
  • Bengals waived P Ryan Plackemeier.
Plackemeier, Seattle’s seventh-round pick in 2006, was claimed off waivers from Washington in February. He’s been highly inconsistent in all his stops.
  • Seahawks P Ryan Plackemeier (pectorals) returned to practice Sunday.
Plackemeier was operated on in June. “How well he’ll punt, I don’t know,” said special teams coach Bruce DeHaven, confidently. Reggie Hodges has been good in camp and Plackemeier struggled last year, so his job isn’t guaranteed.
  • Seahawks waived P Ryan Plackemeier.
Plackemeier struggled last year and was rusty in the preseason after having a June surgery on his pectorals. The Seahawks are going with Jon Ryan instead.
  • Seahawks P Ryan Plackemeier will undergo surgery for a torn pectorals muscle on Tuesday.
He’s out indefinitely. It’s probably too early for Seattle to consider placing Plackemeier on injured reserve, but another punter will definitely be signed. Plack’s 34.3 yards-per-punt net ranked 36th in the NFL last year.
  • Redskins signed P Ryan Plackemeier.
He replaces sixth-round rookie Durant Brooks, whose punting average ranked dead last in the league.
  • Bengals claimed P Ryan Plackemeier off waivers from the Redskins.
Now they have two of the worst punters in the league. Kyle Larson couldn’t manage 40.0 yards per punt last season, and Plackemeier hasn’t been good since his 2006 rookie year.
  • Redskins waived P Ryan Plackemeier.
After Plackemeier ranked 34th in per-punt net among punters with 20 or more attempts last year, Washington has actively searched for an upgrade. Former undrafted free agent Zac Atterbery is now the only punter on their roster.
  • The Redskins worked out free agent P Jay Ottovegio on Thursday.
He was undrafted out of Stanford last April. The Skins want competition for incumbent Ryan Plackemeier, whose net average was just 33.9 last season.
