Panthers signed WR Ainias Smith, G Ja’Tyre Carter, G Saahdiq Charles, WR Dan Chisena, RB Montrell Johnson, OLB Jamil Muhammad, LB Maz Mwansa, TE Bryce Pierre, WR Ja’seem Reed, S Demani Richardson, RB Anthony Tyus, LB Jacoby Windmon, LB Jared Bartlett, CB Tyrek Funderburk and G Joshua Gray to reserve/futures deals.
The former fifth-round Eagles wideout did not have any NFL playing time in 2024 after a 7/41/1 debut for the Eagles in 2024. He spent the whole year with the Panthers practice squad and could have a chance to battle with lower-rung receivers like Brycen Tremayne for a roster spot in 2026.
  • FA Guard #77
Todd Archer of ESPN reports that the Cowboys have released G Saahdiq Charles.
Charles was signed to a one-year deal by the Cowboys in April, but the 26-year-old former fourth-round pick was unable to secure one of the backup offensive line stops. He’s now free to sign with a new team, but also could be a practice squad candidate for Dallas if he doesn’t find a new home.
  • DAL Guard #53
Cowboys signed G Saahdiq Charles, formerly of the Titans, to a one-year contract
The four-year NFL veteran returns to the NFL after a brief retirement. Charles, who was set to start for the Titans in 2024, announced his decision to leave football during the preseason. Charles, a former fourth round draft pick by the Commanders, played four seasons from 2020 to 2023, starting 18 games. In 2023, PFF graded Charles 61st out of 88 guards in pass blocking.
  • TEN Tackle #77
Cowboys held a workout for former Commanders OL Saahdiq Charles.
Charles started 18 games with 35 total appearances for the Commanders during the first four years of his professional career before signing with the Titans on a “prove-it” contract last spring. He would not appear in a game while with the Titans after announcing his retirement during camp.
  • FA Guard #53
Former Titans G Saahdiq Charles came out of retirement.
Charles, a former fourth round draft pick by the Commanders, was set to start for the Titans in 2024 before announcing his retirement in the summer. Charles will now be a free agent and should catch on with a team seeking offensive line depth this spring. PFF in 2023 graded Charles 61st out of 88 guards in pass blocking.
  • TEN Tackle #77
Titans agreed to terms with OL Saahdiq Charles, formerly of the Commanders, on a one-year contract.
The deal is worth “up to” $2.5 million. A tackle by trade, Charles started a bevy of games at guard last season. He was a liability, but proving your versatility is an excellent way to prolong a career for an offensive lineman. Charles will be probably be a swing option off Tennessee’s bench.
  • Tight End
Washington declared TE Sammis Reyes, OT Saahdiq Charles, QB Kyle Allen, DE Shaka Toney, and CB Darryl Roberts in active for Week 1 against the Chargers.
There are no surprise inactives for the Football Teams this week. Curtis Sameul (groin) is slated to miss the next three weeks after being placed on injured reserve, opening up more playing time and targets for explosive rookie WR Dyami Brown and slot receiver Adam Humphries.

  • CAR Guard #78
Washington OT Saahdiq Charles (knee) will undergo season-ending surgery.
The fourth-round rookie, who was arguably the leading contender to take over for Trent Williams on the left side, dislocated his knee cap on only his second NFL snap in Week 6 and will officially be sidelined for the rest of the year. He’s expected to rehab in time for minicamp next season. Washington will move forward with Cornelius Lucas and David Sharpe manning the left side of its o-line.

  • Washington G Brandon Scherff (MCL) returned to practice Thursday.
Tackle Saahdiq Charles has been practicing and has a chance to play this week against the Giants, per head coach Ron Rivera. Scherff had a “good day” in his first practice, but Rivera seemed less optimistic he’ll play in Week 6. Scherff and Charles could shore up one of the NFL’s worst offensive lines -- one that’s 30th in sacks allowed and adjusted line yards, per Football Outsiders. Scherff was ranked by Pro Football Focus as the league’s ninth-best interior offensive lineman coming into the season.

  • CAR Guard #78
The Athletic’s Ben Standig reports Washington OT Saahdiq Charles (calf) is expected to miss additional practices during training camp.
The fourth-round rookie, who was arguably the leading contender to take over for Trent Williams on the left side, has yet to participate in camp due to a nagging calf injury. The team has instead pivoted to using free agent signing Cornelius Lucas and third-year tackle Geron Christian in that role. If Charles is unable to return during the contact portion of camp, it’s likely one of the aforementioned two open the year protecting Dwayne Haskins’ blindside.
