Falcons sign DT Sam Roberts, formerly of the Panthers, to a contract.
Roberts entered the NFL as a Patriots sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons there, totaling four tackles, seven quarterback pressures and one sack. He spent last season with the Panthers and recorded one assisted tackle. The Falcons focused on bolstering the pass rush this offseason, so adding more depth there makes sense.

Patriots selected NW Missouri State DL Sam Roberts with the No. 200 pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Roberts ran a 5.10 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, with 33 1/2-inch arms and did 25 reps on the bench press. Dane Brugler notes that “he fires out of his stance with urgent power to fit in a rotation as a penetrating three-technique.” He figures to take a redshirt year with the Patriots as they’re decently stocked in the interior. His six blocked kicks in college could be a reason he got drafted, as the Pats are always looking for a special teams edge.
