Broncos C Tom Nalen will miss the rest of the season with a torn biceps.
Denver has a lot of inexperience behind Nalen, so the Pro Bowler’s loss will sting. Reserve TE Nate Jackson (groin) is also lost for the rest of the year.
  • DEN Running Back
Travis Henry (ribs, questionable) and Champ Bailey (quadriceps, questionable) returned to a limited practice on Saturday.
Both will be game-time calls against Green Bay. Henry isn’t worth waiting for if you have safer options because he could be limited on game day and has an unfavorable matchup. Domonique Foxworth will start if Bailey can’t.
  • DEN Running Back
Selvin Young has a chance to start for the Broncos Monday night.
Travis Henry went through one limited practice this week, and looks like a game-time decision. Young owners could consider using him as a flex, as his workload is likely to increase even if Henry is playing. The matchup isn’t favorable, though.
  • DEN Running Back
Despite a previous report that Travis Henry (ribs, questionable) returned to practice Friday, the Denver Post reports Henry missed the workout.
The Broncos’ website confirms the news. Denver is expected to go with Selvin Young as the starter if Henry sits out against Green Bay Monday night, and Andre Hall would be rotated in. More should be known on Henry’s status Saturday. Champ Bailey also missed his third straight workout Friday and is considered closer to doubtful than his “questionable” tag suggests.
  • DEN Running Back
Travis Henry (ribs) returned to Broncos practice Friday, but is listed as questionable for Week 8 against the Packers.
Since the teams square off on Monday night, Henry has an extra day for his body to heal. That he made it through a workout is promising, and we should get more information on Henry’s status Saturday or Sunday. Selvin Young would start and Andre Hall would be active if Henry can’t go vs. Green Bay.
  • HOU Running Back
Cecil Sapp has been playing primarily at tailback during OTAs in Denver.
“Cecil has great running skills,” assistant HC/offense Mike Heimerdinger says. It looks like Sapp has made the conversion to tailback from fullback and is probably the favorite to be the number three runner behind Travis Henry and Mike Bell, which puts him on the fantasy radar. Second-year player Andre Hall and rookie Selvin Young are also in the mix.
  • DET Running Back
Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that he believes Mike Bell “can be a Pro Bowl fullback” and “can be a special player there.”
A depth chart released Monday listed Bell as the No. 2 running back and had Selvin Young fifth, but that’s clearly off base. Bell and Cecil Sapp are competing for the fullback job, and Young is the favorite to back up Travis Henry at running back. “I’m just sucking it up and trying to make the best of it,” Bell said. “Now, it’s my job to win the fullback job.”
  • DEN Running Back
The Broncos’ team website is now acknowledging that Selvin Young is Denver’s clear backup at tailback.
If you’ve waited to pick him up, this is all the confirmation you need. The Broncos’ beat writers have been saying it for a week, but Mike Shanahan’s post-cuts depth chart had Young fifth. He is roster worthy in all leagues.
  • DEN Running Back
Travis Henry (ankle, knee) appeared to walk with less of a limp on Wednesday than he had following Sunday’s loss to Indianapolis.
This is good news, but Henry’s status may come down to a game-time call and an issue of pain tolerance in Week 5. He is still experiencing soreness. Rookie Selvin Young would start against San Diego if Henry can’t go.
  • HOU Running Back
If Travis Henry is suspended for the rest of the season, the Broncos are expected to use a tailback rotation of Andre Hall and Selvin Young.
The Denver Post points out that Young is slender and more fit for a change-of-pace role; his former coaches at Texas would agree. Hall is smaller but more compact with better long speed. With Mike Bell and Cecil Sapp also candidates for carries, Young may not be guaranteed a feature back role.
