Cardinals QB Matt Leinart was a perfect 7-of-7 for 70 yards and a touchdown on Saturday night.
He ran twice for 13 yards. Kurt Warner also impressed, going 7-of-9 for 89 yards. Shane Boyd was 9-of-15 for 109 yards with 1 touchdown and an interception. His performance should help solidify the third quarterback position over Toby Korrodi, who was 3-of-9 for 36 yards and an interception.
  • IND Quarterback
Texans signed QB Shane Boyd to the practice squad.
Boyd will serve as the team’s third quarterback, giving them some depth insurance in case Matt Schaub’s various injuries force him to sit out Week 8.
  • ARI Quarterback
The Arizona Republic disputes any notion that the Cardinals may be shopping Kurt Warner in a trade with the Vikings.
Tarvaris Jackson has played well so far in the preseason and Arizona would have no one capable of being a reliable backup behind Matt Leinart if Warner was dealt. Shane Boyd and undrafted rookie Toby Korrodi are behind him.
  • IND Quarterback
Texans signed QB Shane Boyd from their practice squad.
Boyd will last as long as Matt Schaub’s left shoulder injury keeps him out. The former Kentucky Wildcat is a mobile signal caller, but would certainly be bad news for Andre Johnson if he makes it into the lineup.
  • DEN Running Back
Texans released RB Darius Walker, RB Marcel Shipp, S Glenn Earl, WR Mark Simmons, QB Shane Boyd, and DLs Gabe Long and Jesse Nading.
Walker averaged 4.6 YPC last year and Houston figures to keep him on speed dial, but he couldn’t make a weak Texans backfield. The Texans will roll with Ahman Green, Chris Taylor, and Steve Slaton at RB to begin the season. All three are worth late-round fantasy fliers.
