Williams has not excelled when given double-digit carries the last two games. But with a matchup at San Francisco, Williams becomes the hot fantasy pickup for owners still playing.

He’s taken the lead in the battle to be Willis McGahee’s backup. Reshard Lee also ran well and remains in the mix.

Losman and Milloy are out indefinitely. Williams is the No. 3 running back.

Williams will see significant action this season if Travis Henry or Willis McGahee go down to injury.

He saw additional time today because of the fact that Buffalo was up big and Willis McGahee already had 100 yards and two touchdowns. He’s worth watching, but this is McGahee’s job until further notice.

We’re not sure how to react to this news. It looks like the Bills will try to get by with Williams, but really anything is possible: Williams getting all the carries or Williams getting none of the carries. That makes him too risky unless you can wait until 4 o’clock and see if the news changes. If it doesn’t, it’s tough to play Williams.

We thought Williams would get the start, but McGahee was able to play.

He entered the game second tonight, carrying nine times for 28 yards. His main competition, Lionel Gates, had three carries for nine yards.

McGahee rushed for 117 yards on 22 carries, but Williams still managed seven carries and two catches.
