Chiefs placed WR Skyy Moore (core) on injured reserve.
This move corresponds with the trade for DeAndre Hopkins becoming official. Moore was a second-round pick of the Chiefs in 2022 but has slowly fallen down the depth chart to the point where he has yet to catch a pass in any of the team’s six games this season. Moore will be eligible to return in Week 12.
  • KC Wide Receiver #9
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced Monday that Juju Smith-Schuster (hamstring) will not play in Week 8 against the Raiders.
Smith-Schuster left Sunday’s win over the 49ers with a right hamstring injury, and the wideout will miss at least one more contest with the issue. With the 27-year-old unavailable, it makes Xavier Worthy the top wide receiver in the passing attack, and should lead to more targets for players like Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore.
  • KC Wide Receiver #84
Chiefs WR Justin Watson is taking practice reps in place of Marquise Brown (shoulder).
Though he’s not taking every first-team practice rep with Brown sidelined, Watson — who had 27 catches as a wind sprinter last year in the KC offense — looks to be the favorite to join Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice in three-receiver sets until Brown is ready to return. Brown went to the hospital after sustaining a serious shoulder injury in the Chiefs’ preseason opener against the Jaguars last weekend. He could be in danger of missing the team’s season opener against the Ravens. Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore could have a rotational role while Brown is out. Moore was not targeted on seven routes last week against the Jags.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid said Hollywood Brown could miss some time with a shoulder injury he suffered in Saturday’s preseason game against the Jaguars.
According to Reid, Brown suffered a sternoclavicular joint dislocation. Reid compared Brown’s injury to the injury that cost Tyreek Hill four games during the 2019 season. Brown went to the hospital for further evaluation, so we’ll likely know more about the length of his absence in the coming days. Brown has been developing a nice rapport with Patrick Mahomes in training camp and was replaced by Skyy Moore after his injury. Moore would presumably take over for Brown if he misses any regular season action, but his absence would primarily boost Rashee Rice and rookie Xavier Worthy’s fantasy stocks.

Skyy Moore was not targeted in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII victory over the 49ers.
Even with the Chiefs hurting for help at wideout, Moore saw his disastrous rookie receiving total of 250 decline to 244. He did play in two fewer games thanks to a knee injury, though that’s not exactly a good thing. Instantly passed by second-rounder Rashee Rice on the depth chart, Moore couldn’t hang with the likes of Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Justin Watson. Still only 24 in September, former small-school prospect Moore could theoretically finally improve as a third-year pro, but it’s just as likely he’s left off the 53-man roster altogether. Moore’s Dynasty light is just about extinguished.

Chiefs activated Skyy Moore (knee) from injured reserve.
Defensive end Charles Omenihu was placed on injured reserve in a corresponding move. Moore injured his knee late in the regular season and then reaggravated the issue in practice a few weeks ago. The extra rest heading into the Super Bowl appears to be enough for him to suit up this week. Though we don’t expect Moore to play much, his return does add another wrinkle to an already confusing receiver rotation in Kansas City. Justin Watson and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are the best bets to fill the No. 2 role. Moore and Kadarius Toney should each see a few routes with the possibility for some designed touches.

The Chiefs listed Skyy Moore (knee) as questionable for the Super Bowl against the 49ers.
Moore still has another week of practice to go before the big game. The Chiefs will also give us another run of their injury report at the end of next week. They still need to activate Moore from injured reserve for him to play, so we will get a better picture of his status when they make that choice. Even if he plays, Moore will only be on the fantasy radar in the largest of DFS tournaments.

Skyy Moore (knee) won’t play in the Chiefs’ AFC Championship Game against the Ravens.
In addition to Moore, the Chiefs also ruled out DT Derrick Nnadi (tricep), OT Prince Tega Wanogho (quad), and Joe Thuney (pec) for Sunday’s game. Moore tweaked his knee injury just days after the Chiefs opened his 21-day window for a return. He would still have a chance to make it back for the Super Bowl if the Chiefs advance past the Ravens this weekend.

Skyy Moore (knee) will not practice on Thursday.
Moore didn’t practice on Wednesday and is at risk of missing Sunday’s game against the Ravens if he isn’t able to log a limited session on Friday. Even if he’s active, Moore will be hard to trust in any DFS playoff lineups. He’s caught just seven passes for 43 scoreless yards in his last five games. In addition to Moore, DT Derrick Nnadi (tricep), and LG Joe Thuney (pectoral) also won’t practice on Thursday.

Chiefs WR Skyy Moore (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
Moore suffered a knee injury late in the regular season and was placed on injured reserve. The team opened his practice window last week, but he tweaked his knee in practice and was not activated ahead of the team’s Divisional Round game against the Bills. A DNP to open the week suggests Moore will not play versus the Ravens on Sunday.
