Colts selected Wisconsin C Tanor Bortolini with the No. 117 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Bortolini (6'4/303) continues the long-standing tradition of highly-rated offensive linemen in the NFL Draft. At 6’4” and 303 pounds, he is a tad undersized but has the smarts to be effective at the next level. Bortolini’s compact frame, with limited reach, has taught him to time his blows effectively. With absolutely elite play leverage, he needs to work on hand placement to make up the few times he loses. The two-time All-Big Ten honoree is a smooth mover in space and is effective in duo or zone schemes in the run, not to mention the screen game. Bortilini has worked hard to overcome his shorter arms and tiny wingspan. This should only get worse at the next level with even bigger and stronger athletes. Nonetheless, he has made it his mission to overcome these limitations with his competitive edge, even fighting through injuries to prove it. Bortilini has been forced to contribute in many ways, starting at all three interior spots as well as three starts at RT and even a TE start on his resume. This versatility is more indicative of his football IQ than pure versatility, as he practically fills the role of an extra coach on the field. Though there are some injury concerns, he should be attractive to any team in need of a starting center. Bortilini will more than likely gain plenty of strength in a pro weight program. The starting blocks of IQ and athleticism will get him on the field earlier in his career and likely keep him on the roster for a number of years.
