Torry Holt sat out last night’s preseason game with a sore back.
It’s not supposed to be serious, but back injuries never sound good.

Torry Holt, listed as questionable with a back injury, is expected to play Sunday.
Holt is still a safe play versus Arizona this weekend. You can’t keep a top 30 pick on the bench in week one.

Torry Holt was limited in practice Thursday.
Coach Martz said Holt would get more involved in the next day or two. Holt is expected to start Monday night and should have a solid game.
  • LA Wide Receiver
Torry Holt returned to Rams practice Tuesday after missing over a week of work with a sore back.
He caught a few long passes from Marc Bulger and his back looked fine. It’s not an injury we’re concerned about. Holt hasn’t missed a game his entire career.
  • LA Wide Receiver
Torry Holt continues to miss Rams practices with a back injury.
He’s been out for over a week now. It’s probably just coach Mike Martz taking care of a key veteran, but we’ll feel better when Holt starts practicing again.
  • LA Offensive Team
Rams hired Al Saunders as offensive coordinator.
Finally, the Rams get something right. Saunders, a receivers coach during the Greatest Show on Turf Era, is very close to Torry Holt. After seeing Holt and Scott Linehan’s interactions last year, Saunders will be a welcomed addition. Saunders runs a Mike Martz-style offense, but his play calling is less pass heavy. The hire is promising news for all Rams skill players.

Beat writer Steve Corkran speculates that the Raiders will attempt to sign free agent Torry Holt.
Corkran is basing this guess on the Raiders’ past signings of receivers like Andre Rison, Jerry Rice and Javon Walker at the end of their careers. Stranger things have happened, but Holt may have even less left in the tank than those guys did. If the Raiders did bring Holt in, it would be further confirmation that Darrius Heyward-Bey’s solid spring hasn’t translated to pads.

Holt fell on the ball and went to the locker room for x-rays. “Big Game” had four catches for 48 yards before departing. X-rays later came back negative.
  • LA Wide Receiver
Torry Holt (bruised sternum) sat out practice again Thursday.
Holt was expected to sit out two practices but has instead missed four and won’t play in Saturday’s preseason game vs. Kansas City. The injury shouldn’t be serious but it’s a situation to monitor.

Holt landed on the football in the Rams’ preseason game Saturday. He’ll likely be listed as day-to-day and return to practice later in the week.
