Washington senior K Tristan Vizcaino will get another shot to be the kicker on Saturday against UCLA.
Van Soderberg got the kicking duties in the upset loss to Arizona State, and missed two (should be) chip shots for the Huskies. For the year, Washington has struggled mightily in the kicking game, making just 5-of-12 kicks on the season as they look to replaced the graduated and reliable Cam Van Winkle. Vizcaino has obvious leg strength, but Washington will need him to show much more accuracy if they’re going to trust him on field goals the rest of the year. Either way, expect UW to go for it on fourth down a lot inside of the 35.
  • Washington HC Chris Petersen said that they’ll decide later this week whether senior Tristan Vizcaino or redshirt freshman Van Soderberg will be the kicker on Saturday against Cal.
Vizcaino (6'2/203) was the kicker in the first five games, but appeared to be benched after missing a field goal against Oregon State on Saturday and barely making an extra point. For the year, Vizcaino is just 4-for-8 on attempts this year, and while he has a big leg, the Huskies likely can’t put up with his inconsistent accuracy.
