Law was reportedly protesting a contract dispute over an offseason workout bonus he has yet to receive. After the game, Law made it clear he won’t discuss the issue publicly.

Law played hobbled during the early portions of last seasons, then had one of his best campaigns. But New England is leery of injuring Law worse this early in the season. With a bye week in week three, we’re guessing they’ll sit Law this weekend.

We’ve heard this before, but it’s still hard to believe. New England is facing salary cap struggles, but we’d guess they’ll cut a veteran like Ted Johnson, Tyrone Poole, and/or David Patten before releasing Law.

Belichick said Law wanted to play in the game but was held out by the coaching staff. Asante Samuel started in his place.

With the Patriots bye week in week three, the New England coaching staff may be tempted to sit Law.

He had a cast around his ankle. With both starters (Law and Tyrone Poole) possibly out, and another injured (Randall Gay), New England’s secondary suddenly looks very thin. They’ll have a tough test this week at St. Louis.

Law will start running this week and may even get a few snaps in on Sunday. Look for him to play a significant amount week 16 at New York.

He removed a hard cast off his foot this week and has started more extensive rehab. He should return with a few weeks left in the season.

It turns out Law’s injury was worse than a broken bone. He will see specialists this week before surgery, which he did not have after originally suffering the injury.
