Saints signed QB Zach Wilson, formerly of the Dolphins, to a one-year contract.

Wilson spent last season with the Dolphins, attempting 11 passes as the backup to both Tua Tagovailoa and Quinn Ewers. He joins a quarterback room that is likely to start Tyler Shough with Spencer Rattler in the mix as backup. Wilson is only a month older than Shough, but will be the “journeyman” presence heading into training camp. The former Jets first-rounder is only worth rostering in the deepest of Superflex leagues if injuries give him a starting chance.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters “everything is on the table” and that “the quarterback play last night was not good enough” when asked about benching Tua Tagovailoa.

Those aren’t words that are typically just said without a quarterback change — most of the quarterback switches we’ve seen this year have been handled a little bit more delicately, with the idea that they’re evaluating a change. This is a head coach outright saying his starting quarterback isn’t playing well enough. Welp! Zach Wilson and Quinn Ewers have batted the No. 2 role back and forth this year, so we can’t even say for sure who would take over. McDaniel said he would elaborate more tomorrow. Superflex managers should consider pre-emptive pickups of Wilson and Ewers.

CBS’ Jonathan Jones reports the Dolphins are a team “sources are eyeing as a potential quarterback-grabber” on Day 2 or early in Day 3.

“Miami has 10 picks total, including four picks in those three rounds, so they have the ammunition to do it,” Jones explains. The Dolphins signed Zach Wilson as Tua Tagovailoa’s backup this year, but it’s a short-term commitment for the former No. 2 overall pick. Tagovailoa’s concussion history makes him a hard quarterback to rely on, so it makes plenty of sense for the Dolphins to invest in a potential backup plan.

Dolphins agreed to terms with QB Zach Wilson, formerly of the Broncos, on a one-year, $6 million contract.

The deal is reported to be fully guaranteed and carries a maximum value of $10 million. The Dolphins have struggled while playing with their backup quarterback in each of the previous two seasons as starter Tua Tagovailoa dealt with brain injuries. Wilson is likely not the answer to those woes, but he joins a situation where he could very well find some playing time after not playing a regular-season snap with the Broncos last year.

Titans beat writer Buck Reising reports the Titans may be interested in Zach Wilson or Mac Jones.

It’s hard to imagine either signing as more than a backup. While Wilson didn’t log a pass attempt in 2024 as the QB3 for the Broncos, Jones threw for 1,672-8-8 in 10 games for the Jaguars while going 2-5 as a starter. The Titans currently hold the No. 1 overall pick in this years draft and could consider a rookie quarterback, but in an underwhelming quarterback class, they may opt for a stopgap at the position in hopes of getting a better option in 2026.

The Athletic’s Nick Kosmider believes Zach Wilson “figures to draw interest on the free-agent market” as a potential starter.

The Wilson rehabilitation tour ran into a slight roadblock this past year as Bo Nix started 17 games and Wilson was often a healthy scratch. The former No. 2 overall pick is described by Kosmider as “a player who could potentially compete for a starting job in training camp.” There haven’t exactly been wide-spread rumors of Wilson interest on the open market to date. We’d bet on him finding a backup role somewhere, but we’d be a little surprised if he competed for a starting job in 2025.

Broncos declared QB Zach Wilson, RB Blake Watson, OL Frank Crum, LB Levelle Bailey, DL Eyioma Uwazurike, DL Matt Henningsen, and WR David Sills inactive for Week 17 against the Bengals.

No real surprises here as both practice squad call-ups were elevated to get a game-day check before ultimately being ruled inactive. The Broncos will be near full strength as they take on the Bengals as they aim to lock up a playoff bid in Week 17.

Broncos declared RB Jaleel McLaughlin, QB Zack Wilson, CB Riley Moss, CB Levi Wallace, LB Levelle Bailey, T Frank Hennigan and DL Matt Henningsen inactive for Week 16 against the Chargers.

McLaughlin was ruled out Wednesday for Week 16 by the Broncos on Wednesday, but it’s just a friendly reminder. Wilson will be the emergency third quarterback for the Thursday Night Football contest.

Broncos declared S P.J. Locke (thumb), QB Zack Wilson, CB Kris Abrams-Draine, T Alex Palczewski, TE Greg Dulcich, LB Dondrea Tillman and DL Eyioma Uwazurike inactive for Week 8 against the Panthers.

Locke was considered doubtful for the bout against the Panthers, and will unsurprisingly miss the contest. Wilson will operate as the emergency third quarterback.

Broncos declared WR Devaughn Vele, TE Greg Dulcich, QB Zach Wilson, CB Kris Abrams-Draine and DL Eyioma Uwazurike inactive for Week 5 against the Raiders.

Dulcich has failed to contribute when active but Vele’s recurring deactivation is confusing. Vele caught a team-high eight targets in his lone regular season showing (Week 1) but has been declared inactive in every game since. Fantasy managers can drop him at this point.
