Henrik Zetterberg is done for the Olympics
Carl Juborg of Expressen in Sweden has reported that Henrik Zetterberg is done for the Olympics due to his injuries. Multiple outlets back that up, with strong suggestions that the 33-year-old might need back surgery. (There’s talk of a herniated disc.)
Zetterberg told Expressen he hasn't been able to move around much and that the injury is "the same as in December but much bigger pain".— Matias Strozyk (@MaStrozyk) February 14, 2014
NHL.com’s Corey Masisak passes along more:
The CBC’s Elliotte Friedman backs it up further:
Sweden opened the tournament with a 4-2 win over the Czech Republic on Wednesday. Zetterberg scored a goal in the victory.
Masisak notes that Sweden cannot add anyone else to its roster, so they’ll roll with 24 players:
Sweden cannot replace Zetterberg. The rosters were locked at the start of the 1st game of the tournament. Sweden plays on with 24 guys.— Corey Masisak (@cmasisak22) February 14, 2014
