The Washington Capitals enjoyed their second consecutive day off by spending the night on the red carpet for the premiere of Brad Pitt’s new movie Fury. Washington captain Alex Ovechkin rubbed shoulders with Pitt and even presented him with a jersey. (Monumental Network)

Ever since rumors surfaced that injured Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger would be joining the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, many have been pointing out the obvious conflict of interest. On Wednesday Pronger cleared up the situation. (CSN Philadelphia)

File this under creepy. Actor Jay Baruchel, a noted Habs fan, stars in a new Montreal Canadiens commercial, which features Baruchel wearing goaltender Carey Price’s underwear.

The New York Islanders have jumped out to a quick 3-0-0 record to start the season and of course captain John Tavares is among the league leaders in points, but behind him is an unlikely contributor. (

The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to build their analytics department. On Wednesday it was reported the club has signed a partnership with analytics firm SAS. The firm will provide the club with all sorts of data from games, which over time will help the team make better decisions on player acquisitions and transactions. (The Canadian Press)
