Michael Phelps and the U.S. women’s gymnastics team will be presenters at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.

Phelps, who retired after finishing his career with records of 28 Olympic medals and 23 golds, previously appeared at the VMAs in 2008, introducing Lil’ Wayne following his eight-gold-medal effort at the Beijing Games.

Phelps also appeared on MTV’s “Total Request Live” in 2004 and 2008.

In 2012, the U.S. Olympic women’s gymnastics team introduced Alicia Keys at the VMAs while also meeting celebrities including Taylor Swift and Robert Pattinson. Gabby Douglas even performed flips during Keys’ performance.

Two members of the “Fierce Five” 2012 gymnastics team -- Douglas and Aly Raisman -- came back and made the “Final Five” 2016 team. The three Olympic rookies -- and now VMA rookies -- are Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian.
