Russia’s Tatyana Volosozhar and Maksim Trankov earned a world-record score in the figure skating pairs’ short program to take the lead going into today’s free skate.

Four-time world champions Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy of Germany, currently running second after the short program, will look to come from behind and take the Olympic title.

U.S. pairs Marissa Castelli/Simon Shnapir and Felicia Zhang/Nathan Bartholomay will also be in action.
