Domination has been fairly easy for the United States women’s water polo team, but anything can happen in a knock-out game.
Hosts Brazil will be using every ounce of mental motivation when it comes to their quarterfinal match against the heavily-favored Americans, and “anything can happen” certainly has to be a part of their thought process.
The U.S. scored the most goals of any team in group play, and allowed the fewest as well. That earned them a date with a Brazilian side that scored the fewest, and allowed the most.
The match kicks off four quarterfinals on Monday in Rio.
