The Texans failed to tender restricted free agent S Quintin Demps, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Demps was signed as an injury replacement last season, so this isn’t overly surprising. A fourth-round pick by the Eagles back in 2008, Demps has also had a stop in the CFL. He’s a fringe NFL talent and will, at least, remain on NFL teams’ emergency lists.
  • FA Defensive Back #21
    Texans re-signed S Quintin Demps.
Demps was non-tendered, so the Texans are getting him back at a cheaper rate. The four-year veteran played roughly 25 percent of the defensive snaps last season as a backup and special teamer.
  • FA Defensive Back #21
Texans S Quintin Demps has undergone surgery after breaking his forearm, and is out indefinitely.
The injury is not season-ending, but Demps will miss “some time.” The Texans’ third safety, Demps was already playing through a broken thumb. Second-year pro Shiloh Keo should see an uptick in snaps in Demps’ absence.
  • FA Defensive Back #21
Texans S Quintin Demps (broken forearm) is expected to return to game action on Sunday.
Demps has been out since Week 4. He’s wearing a pad on his left forearm and a cast over his right thumb, which was broken the week before his forearm injury. He had been playing in nickel and third-down packages early in the season.
  • FA Wide Receiver #11
Texans WR Lestar Jean (knee) has been ruled out for Week 5 on Monday night.
Jean underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair his meniscus after Week 3 and is considered week-to-week. He has been recovering quickly, so we could see the receiver back on the field in Week 6. Jean has just two catches this season but remains someone to monitor in fantasy. Quintin Demps (broken forearm) has officially been ruled out, also.
  • FA Defensive Back #21
Chiefs signed S Quintin Demps, formerly of the Texans.
Demps, 28 next month, recorded 35 tackles and five pass breakups in 12 games with the Texans last season as a backup. He has never started a game in his five-year career since being a fourth-round pick of the Eagles. Demps will compete for a roster spot behind safeties Eric Berry and Kendrick Lewis.
  • FA Defensive Back #21
    Texans re-signed S Quintin Demps.
One of the Texans final cuts, Demps was signed as veteran insurance with only rookies Shiloh Keo and Brandon Harris behind starter Troy Nolan now that Danieal Manning (fibula) is out for at least a month.
  • FA Defensive Back
Eagles FS Marlin Jackson (ACL surgery) is a full participant at OTAs.
The two-year, $6 million offseason signing practiced ahead of rookie Nate Allen on Wednesday, though Allen is a good bet to supplant him by the start of the season. Quintin Demps doesn’t appear to be in the mix at free safety.
  • FA Defensive Back #21
Texans S Quintin Demps will have an MRI on his injured calf.
Demps suffered the injury early in the Week 5 loss to the Vikings and never returned. CB Kareem Jackson was inactive with a hamstring injury, and CB Johnathan Joseph left the game with a concussion. The Texans secondary is extremely banged up heading into a matchup with the Colts Week 6.
  • FA Defensive Back #21
Texans S Quintin Demps (calf) has been ruled out for Week 7.
It’s the second straight game he’ll miss. Corey Moore will make another start in his place.
