Coach Hue Jackson said Monday that Randall Telfer is currently the Browns’ No. 1 tight end.
Of Telfer, Jackson said he “likes his blocking,” which was Telfer’s strength as a sixth-round prospect coming out of USC in 2015. It’s only a matter of time before first-rounder David Njoku emerges as a real threat, but for now the Browns are making Njoku pay his dues. In addition to Telfer, athletic second-year TE Seth DeValve is listed ahead of Njoku on the depth chart.
  • FA Tight End
Browns sixth-round TE Randall Telfer (foot) is unlikely to be able to contribute until “late in the year.”
Telfer suffered a late-season Lisfranc injury and was unable to work out during the pre-draft process. He recently underwent surgery to repair the fracture. Look for the Browns to possibly stash Telfer on reserve/NFI.
  • FA Tight End
Browns signed No. 198 overall pick TE Randall Telfer to a four-year contract.
Standing in at 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, Telfer is a pure in-line tight end. He’s not a receiving threat beyond the short area of the field. Telfer will have to play some special teams as a rookie.
  • FA Tight End
Browns placed TE Randall Telfer (foot) on the active/NFI list.
Telfer will miss the majority of 2015 with his Lisfranc injury. The Browns haven’t ruled out a late-season return for the sixth-round rookie.
  • FA Tight End
Browns selected USC TE Randall Telfer with the No. 198 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.
Telfer (6'4/250) made 34 starts for the Trojans, amassing 648 yards and 12 TDs on 65 career catches (10.0 YPR). Rumored to be out of shape during the pre-draft process, Telfer didn’t hold a workout coming off a late-season Lisfranc injury. A short-area receiving option only, Telfer’s calling card is his physical run-blocking ability. He should carve out an NFL career as a reserve in-line tight end and could add to his value by developing lead-blocking skills.
  • FA Tight End
Chiefs acquired TE Randall Telfer from the Browns in exchange for LB Dadi Nicolas.
Former sixth-rounder Telfer played 300 snaps last season and was asked to block on 235 of them. He has just five career catches. Nicolas was a sixth-round pick last year who didn’t play a snap as a rookie.
  • FA Tight End
    Browns waived TE Randall Telfer.
Cleveland traded Telfer to Kansas City for LB Dadi Nicolas, but the move never went through. Now that he’s been cut, Telfer figures to resurface with the Chiefs.
  • FA Tight End
Colts claimed TE Randall Telfer off waivers from the Browns.
Telfer is a 26-year-old blocking tight end out of Southern Cal.
