Robinson Canó has signed a contract with the Diablos Rojos of the independent Mexican League.
It’s been a bizarre odyssey the last few years for Canó, who hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since a disastrous 33-game stint during the 2022 campaign between the Mets, Padres and Braves.

Robinson Canó hit a three-run homer Wednesday as the Dominican Republic crushed the Braves 9-0 in an exhibition.
Canó’s homer came off Dylan Dodd. Canó didn’t generate any interest as a free agent over the winter, but he’ll have a little window to try to impress teams during the WBC. He’s due to get a few more at-bats than expected because of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s absence.

Robinson Canó has elected to become a free agent.
Canó refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Gwinnett after being pushed off the 40-man roster in Atlanta on Monday. This might be the end of the road -- or very close to it -- for the 17-year MLB veteran. He had slashed just .150/.183/.190 in 33 games this season between the Mets, Padres, and Braves.

Braves designated INF Robinson Canó for assignment.
Canó has been jettisoned from the Braves’ roster to make room for newly-acquired utility infielder Ehire Adrianza. The 39-year-old veteran second baseman, who was scooped up from the Padres back in early July, wound up appearing in just nine games for the Braves.

Robinson Canó (head) is not in the Braves starting lineup for Saturday’s battle against the Angels.
Canó was lifted from Friday night’s game after feeling lightheaded. With left-hander Patrick Sandoval on the hill for the Angels on Saturday though, it’s likely that the veteran second baseman would have been on the pine regardless of how he was feeling. He should be considered day-to-day.

Robinson Canó was pulled from Friday’s game against the Angels due to dizziness.
The 39-year-old second baseman was pinch-hit for in the third inning after he felt dizzy and light-headed. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him get another day or two off as these things can tend to linger -- and could even lead to a stint on the injured list. The Braves should have an update on his status after the game or on Saturday.

Robinson Canó went 2-for-3 on Monday in a loss to the Mets.
Canó picked up the first hit of the game off Max Scherzer, and singled again off Adam Ottavino in the eighth. The former star has struggled mightily in his age-39 season, but maybe he can find the form that made him so good not too long ago. Fantasy managers can’t bet on it just yet.

Robinson Canó is starting at second base and batting ninth on Monday in his Braves debut against the Mets.
With Orlando Arcia struggling offensively in the wake of Ozzie Albies’ foot injury, Canó was acquired from the Padres over the weekend and is expected to play regularly at second base for the Braves as a temporary stopgap solution. He’ll face his former team on Monday night in Atlanta. Get your popcorn ready.

Braves purchased the contract of INF Robinson Canó from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Canó, who was acquired from the Padres in a trade over the weekend, offers virtually nothing as a fantasy contributor at this advanced stage of his career, but his sudden presence provides an interesting wrinkle as the Braves and Mets square off in a pivotal three-game series in Atlanta on Monday evening. The 39-year-old veteran second baseman has hit .149/.182/.189 with one homer in 77 plate appearances over 24 games this season between the Mets and Padres.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Braves plan to add Robinson Canó to their big league roster, perhaps as early as Monday.
It looks like Canó will get a chance at holding down a platoon role with Orlando Arcia to cover for the injured Ozzie Albies. The 39-year-old has hit .333/.375/.479 with three homers and 20 RBI in 21 games at Triple-A El Paso after struggling badly during his limited time with the Padres.
