There’s plenty of drama afoot for USMNT players and hopefuls alike this weekend, beginning with Tim Howard’s duties in Saturday morning’s Merseyside Derby (Watch coverage at 7:45am ET on NBCSN and online via Live Extra).

Howard will look to help Everton steer its ship back on course, as the Toffees have just five points through five games.

Meanwhile, Brad Guzan and Aston Villa continue their brutal early run with a visit to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea at 10am ET Saturday. Jozy Altidore will hope his midweek League Cup goal will earn him time up top for Sunderland as they host Swansea at the same time, while Geoff Cameron could be fit for Stoke’s match with Newcastle on Monday (though he’ll likely need a bit more time).

Borussia Monchengladbach flanker Fabian Johnson faces a fixture that seemed easy before the season began but looks pretty difficult: a trip to Paderborn to face early-season surprisers Paderborn.

In France, Ale Bedoya and Nantes will look stop Lyon from jumping them in the standings. The seventh-place Canaries are one point ahead their Sunday opponents. Lyon visits at 11am ET.

In the Netherlands, Rubio Rubin and FC Utrecht are off to Twente for a big Sunday morning match at 830am ET.

To Norway, where Bob Bradley will look to get his tactics right for a visit from Lillestrom on Sunday at 930am ET. A win and his club, which also features Yank players Michael Stephens and Andrew Jacobson, can climb as high as 7th. Mix Diskerud’s Rosenborg has Aaleslund a few hours later
