While fans clamors for the Gunners to sign a striker, they’ve instead picked up another central midfielder.
Arsenal confirmed the signing of 31-year-old Kim Källström from Spartak Moscow until the end of the season.
Manager Arsene Wenger called the Swedish international (pictured, left) a “hugely-experienced player” who has “proven quality at both club and international level.”
Källström has 10 Russian Premier Liga appearances (6 starts), but Denis Glushakov, Tino Costa, and Rafael are all ahead of the Swede in the midfield pecking order.
He has quite underwhelming numbers this season, with a 69% pass accuracy and creating just 8 chances in his 10 appearances, but he does have a very good tackle completion rate.
“Arsenal is an amazing club with a lot of great players and a coach who has done really well here for a long time,” Källström told the Gunners’ official website. “I am so pleased to come here to learn as much as possible.”
Many are still wondering if Wenger and the Arsenal front office are going to move for a striker, with just Olivier Giroud and Nicolas Bendtner at the club, but no names have been suggested in the media as of yet.
