Vincent Kompany’s tragic injury history has been well documented to this point. In truth, it’s far more extensive than you might realize.

With his latest injury, suffered Wednesday in Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League elimination at the hands of Real Madrid, Kompany confirmed on Saturday he is set to miss what will likely be his last shot at representing Belgium at a European Championship.

Having captained his country to EURO 2016 qualification, Belgium’s first appearance since 2000, the oft-injured 30-year-old Brussels native will miss the remainder of the Premier League season and be out of action through this summer’s tournament in France.

Not only will Kompany miss EURO 2016, but his Man City career is in serious doubt with the impending arrival of Pep Guardiola.
