A report in The Mirror pointed towards yet another Premier League loan for a second straight offseason.
But according to Dempsey’s agent, that’s not true. Like, at all. Like, not even a little bit.
“The rumor that broke about Clint going on loan is completely false and inaccurate,” Dempsey’s agent, Lyle Yorks, told MLSsoccer.com. “There have been no discussions to that effect. Clint’s immediate focus is the playoffs with Seattle.”
I’m sorry Lyle, that wasn’t entirely clear, could you repeat that?
Clint has played nearly 2 years of straight soccer. After moving from Tottenham to Seattle Sounders, the 31-year-old played a full MLS season before heading to England for a 2-month loan move to Fulham, although he was stuck on a sinking squad and performed well below expectations.
He then came home and begun preseason almost straight away for another MLS season. That time also included, obviously, a trip to Brazil for the World Cup.
With Fulham - his former club - now relegated to the Championship, The Mirror had tabbed Aston Villa, Queens Park Rangers, and Stoke City as teams for a possible Dempsey swoop.
At this point, Dempsey is slated to start the playoffs with Seattle on November 2 against either FC Dallas or Vancouver. Dempsey wouldn’t be able to return to England until January 1 when the transfer window opens.
