Another Serie A club, another racism charge.
Internazionale have been told they must vacate a section of their next home Serie A match at San Siro and pay a €15,000 ($20,000), thanks to unruly supporters in their match against Juventus last Saturday. The section ban will take place against Fiorentina on September 26.
The fans directed racial insults at Juventus players, unfurled a banner insulting Juventus manager Antonio Conte, and also shone laser lights into the eyes of referees, according to a statement issued by Serie A today.
Italian media indicated the racial chants were directed mostly at black players Paul Pogba and Kwadwo Asamoah. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Serie A has had a slew of racism issues, many of which have made headlines since Kevin-Price Boateng, then of AC Milan, walked off the pitch due to racial chants in March and refused to play.
