Anthony Martial’s second-half goal lifted Manchester United past Everton 1-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah was an impact sub for United at both ends of the pitch, and the Red Devils keep pace with Man City in the race for fourth. United is one point back of City.
Everton sits 12th with 38 points.

Martial ripped a shot that took a turn off Leighton Baines, missing the far post behind a diving Joel Robles by inches.
David De Gea darted off his line and past the 18 to clear a running ball before Lukaku could arrive and fire on goal.
Manchester United had the better chances after that, with John Stones making a terrific lunging stop on a cruising Marcus Rashford.

Everton started the second half in good form, but United netted off a counter attack. Substitute defender Fosu-Mensah rushed into the box to pick up Marcus Rashford’s backheel, and cut the ball across the six, where Martial shot it off Robles and home for an opener.

De Gea was tested several times down the stretch, and attempts to find an insurance goal were continually a shade off.
With five minutes to play, Lukaku looked primed to slide a goal past De Gea, but Fosu-Mensah made a terrific intervention.
