Alan Pardew’s Newcastle side got a much-needed win after going behind to Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Sammy Ameobi defined the term “super-sub” when he came on at the break and scored just seven seconds into the second half. The goal shocked Spurs as Ayoze Perez scored his first Newcastle goal just over ten minutes later to help the Magpies gain some clearance from the relegation zone.

In the marquee matchup of the week, Chelsea visited Old Trafford to take on a Manchester United side coming off of a tough draw at West Brom. The seasoned veteran Didier Drogba put the Blues ahead in the 53rd minute, but United rallied late to steal a point at home. Branislav Ivanovic was sent off in stoppage time for a second yellow card, and Angel di Maria whipped the free kick into the box that was eventually finished off by Robin van Persie as the clock struck minute 94.
