VIDEO: Watch Steven Gerrard’s heroic late winner for Liverpool. His last goal at Anfield?
Steven Gerrard has done it many times over the years, but perhaps Saturday was his last time being the hero at Anfield for Liverpool Football Club.
In the 87th minute the Reds’ skipper rose highest at the near post to head home and grab Liverpool a 2-1 win over QPR in front of the Kop.

He wheeled away in celebration and treasured the standing ovation he received after being substituted a minute later by Brendan Rodgers. Gerrard only has three more games in a Liverpool shirt (and one more at Anfield, against Crystal Palace on May 16) before he moves to Major League Soccer this summer and plays for the LA Galaxy.
Watch the video above to see Gerrard’s perfect header -- which erased the memory of his penalty kick being saved by Robert Green minutes earlier -- and his emotional celebration as he’s mobbed by his teammates by the corner flag.
We’ve grown accustomed to seeing Gerrard celebrate at Anfield over the last 17 years. This may be the last time he does, so savor the footage above. Here’s what the Liverpool legend had to say about the potential for it to be his last at the old stadium he’s ever called home.
“We have one more game to go here at Anfield and I will do my best to get on the score sheet,” Gerrard said. “If that is my last goal at Anfield then I will take it but I won’t give up.”
