Everton have suffered four straight league defeats following their 2-0 result against Hull City today, during which Ahmed Elmohamady and Nikica Jelavic notched the goals to catapult the Tigers out of relegation.
The Toffees now sit in 13th place with 21 points, a position that has them 13 points behind the Europa League qualification spot at fifth.
“Obviously when you give a cheap goal away like we did, and then a little bit of a lack of understanding between a few new faces in the side, all the sudden it becomes difficult,” manager Roberto Martinez said.

The 41-year-old, who led his side to a quality 2013-14 season, knows he now must spearhead a very determined effort in the second half of the season.
This endeavor hinges on the squad, a largely unchanged roster from a year ago, banding together to overcome these strains.
“We got great expectations, but in the same manner, every time we go through a tough period, we just bounce off each other, and help each other. And that’s what we’re going to do at Everton,” he said.
