According to Brazilian news station Globoesporte, the under-construction Pantanal Arena in Cuiabá, Brazil has caught on fire, but that it was controlled quickly and will not delay construction significantly.
The report was confirmed by the Secretariat of the World Cup and the commission in charge of the construction, the Secopa-MT.
The report says the local fire department responded to a blaze around 12pm local time (11am EST) and that it began when Styrofoam and polystyrene boards used for insulation caught fire.
Nobody was injured in the blaze.
Pictures surfaced of the arena pouring black smoke out of the center. The official report cited the west sector as the center of the fire, and suggested electrical problems were the cause of the blaze.
The arena is scheduled to be completed in December of this year, with inauguration in January of 2014.
