Victor Alcantara has been suspended 80 games for violating Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Alcantara gets the suspension for testing positive for the banned substance Stanozolol. The 26-year-old elected free agency after he was designated for assignment in October, and posted a 4.85 ERA in 42 2/3 innings for the Tigers in 2019. The suspension begins at the start of the 2020 season, so he won’t be able to pitch for whatever team he signs with until July, at the earliest.

Victor Alcantara has elected free agency.
Alcantara had a 4.85 ERA in 42 2/3 innings out of the pen for the Tigers this season. His strikeout rate limits his upside, so he shouldn’t be a candidate for a major league deal this winter.

Tigers recalled RHP Victor Alcantara from Triple-A Toledo.
Alcantara stayed in Triple-A after recovering from a finger contusion, but now he’ll finish the year in the Tigers’ bullpen. The 26-year-old holds a shaky 5.31 ERA over 43 appearances this season.

Victor Alcantara (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
Alcantara has missed the last week and a half with a bruised right middle finger. He shouldn’t need many rehab appearances before returning.

Tigers placed RHP Victor Alcantara on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 21, with a right middle finger contusion.
It’s not clear how long Alcantara might be sidelined. Jose Cisnero is replacing him in the bullpen.

Tigers activated RHP Victor Alcantara from the 10-day injured list.
Alcantara was out for exactly 10 days following a July 4 wisdom tooth extraction. The 26-year-old right-hander returns to a 4.62 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 22/12 K/BB ratio in 37 innings of relief with Detroit.

Tigers placed RHP Victor Alcantara on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 4, due to a wisdom tooth extraction.
He should be ready to go when his 10 days are up. Ryan Carpenter has replaced Alcantara on the roster.

Chris McCosky of Detroit News reports Victor Alcantara (tooth) is headed to the injured list.
He underwent surgery to repair a minor tooth issue. Alcantara hasn’t been of much use this year, supplying a lackluster 4.62 ERA with a 5.40 K/9 in 39 appearances out of the Tigers’ pen. The Tigers haven’t announced who will take his place, though McCosky suspects it will be left-hander Ryan Carpenter.

Tigers acquired RHP Victor Alcantara from the Angels for OF Cameron Maybin.
Alcantara spent the entire 2016 season with Double-A Arkansas where he posted a 4.30 ERA and 79/57 K/BB ratio in 111 innings over 20 starts and nine relief appearances. The 23-year-old was one of the Angels’ better pitching prospects, but that’s a low bar with their system. The Tigers weren’t planning to pick up the option on Maybin, so they are mostly happy to get a young player with some upside in return.
