Victor Alcantara has been suspended 80 games for violating Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Alcantara gets the suspension for testing positive for the banned substance Stanozolol. The 26-year-old elected free agency after he was designated for assignment in October, and posted a 4.85 ERA in 42 2/3 innings for the Tigers in 2019. The suspension begins at the start of the 2020 season, so he won’t be able to pitch for whatever team he signs with until July, at the earliest.
