Will Shipley had three rushes for two yards in the Eagles’ Week 8 win against the Giants.
Shipley played behind Tank Bigsby after Saquon Barkley left the game with a groin injury. Bigsby ran for 104 yards on nine rushing attempts, most of that production coming in the fourth quarter. Perhaps Shipley can be rostered in some deeper leagues but it would appear Bigsby will be the team’s lead back if Barkley misses any time. The Eagles have a bye next week.
  • PHI Running Back #28
Will Shipley caught his only target for seven yards in the Eagles Week 7 win over the Vikings.
He didn’t manage a single rush attempt, but outsnapped Tank Bigsby 8-4 behind Saquon Barkley with A.J. Dillon a healthy scratch. There’s no stand-alone value here, but Shipley is a fine hold in deeper leagues.
  • PHI Running Back #29
Eagles declared RB A.J. Dillon, CB Mac McWilliams OL Drew Kendall TE Grant Calcaterra and QB Sam Howell inactive for Philadelphia’s Week 7 game against the Vikings.
Will Shipley will assume second RB duties, with Tank Bigsby perhaps working in more on offense after the mini-bye. Active for the Eagles are OL Landon Dickerson (ankle) and DT Jalen Carter (heel), the latter of whom was questionable.
  • PHI Running Back #26
Eagles listed Saquon Barkley (knee) as DNP on Monday’s estimated injury report.
It’s only an estimated report, but an estimated DNP is still concerning for Barkley, who has struggled on the ground to start the season. We’ll see if things change come Tuesday when the Eagles actually hold a practice, but this is clearly something worth monitoring until we receive word that Barkley is in the clear for Thursday night’s game against the Giants. If Barkley is unable to go, A.J. Dillon could be in line to handle early-down touches while Will Shipley mixes in on passing downs.
  • PHI Running Back #28
Eagles RB Will Shipley (oblique) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 4 against the Buccaneers.
Shipley should resume No. 2 running back duties and can be stashed as a high-upside player in re-draft formats. Stud RT Lane Johnson (stinger) practiced in full on Thursday and Friday. The Eagles lost star OLB Nolan Smith (triceps) to injured reserve earlier this week. He will be eligible to return after missing four games. They got good news on LB Zack Baun (knee), LB Jihaad Campbell (triceps) and backup QB Tanner McKee (right thumb), though. All three are good to go. Unfortunately, CB Adoree’ Jackson (groin) is doubtful.
  • PHI Running Back #28
Eagles RB Will Shipley (oblique) was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.
Shipley was a full participant for the first time since injuring his oblique in the season opener. He had three carries for 26 yards against the Cowboys in Week 1 and profiles as Saquon Barkley’s primary backup. He is back on fantasy radars as a valuable handcuff as the Eagles play the Bucs in Week 4.
  • PHI Quarterback #16
Eagles declared QB Sam McKee, DE Azeez Ojulari, RB Will Shipley, DE Ogbo Okoronkwo, LB Patrick Johnson, OL Drew Kendall and OL Kenyon Green inactive for Week 3 against the Rams.
McKee will be the third QB for the tilt against Los Angeles, with Sam Howell operating as the backup to Jalen Hurts. Shipley is out with an oblique injury, paving the way for Tank Bigsby and A.J. Dillon — not necessarily in that order — to get the carries behind bellcow Saquon Barkley.
  • PHI Running Back #28
Eagles RB Will Shipley (oblique) is out for Week 3’s game against the Rams.
Shipley got in back-to-back limited practices. so he’ll likely be a candidate to return in Week 4. Once Shipley is healthy, we expect him to assume the main RB2 role behind Saquon Barkley. It might start with a week of everyone sharing duties though while the Eagles make sure Shipley is fully good to go.
  • PHI Running Back #28
Eagles RB Will Shipley (oblique) was limited on Thursday.
Shipley still seems like a long shot to play in Week 3 against the Rams, but his return to practice is certainly positive. The Eagles traded for Tank Bigsby after Shipley was injured, so although Shipley may ultimately return to the No. 2 running back role, but things are a bit more crowded than when he left. He can be speculatively stashed on benches in 12-team leagues, though rostering him should not be considered necessary.
  • PHI Running Back #28
Eagles RB Will Shipley (oblique) did not practice on Wednesday.
The good news is, Shipley avoided landing on injured reserve last week. The bad news is, he remains sidelined. The team continues to refer to his injury as an oblique issue but reports suggest that suffered fractured ribs. A.J. Dillon out-touched Tank Bigsby three-to-zero in Week 2, operating in the primary backup role behind Saquon Barkley.
