Meesseman provided a scoring punch for the Liberty off the bench spacing the floor well from beyond the arc while cutting at all the right moments inside of the arc. She hit one three-pointer on a drive and kick from Natasha Cloud and scored at the rim off a couple of well placed passes by point forward Breanna Stewart. Meesseman finished the regular season shooting a career-high 57.2% from the field which is an impressive feat after she came to the Liberty mid-way through the season and had to learn a completely new playbook with limited practice time. On Thursday night Meesseman rebounded and facilitated the ball at a high level. She and Stewart led the Liberty with six rebounds a piece while Meesseman found three different teammates in Cloud, Sabrina Ionescu and Leonie Fiebich all on back-cuts and scores to the basket.

On Thursday night Ionescu became the first player in Liberty franchise history to record 11 assists without a turnover in a single game. To end her regular season prior to the playoffs, Ionescu registered at least nine assists in each of her last three games which ties the longest streak in her career. She also recorded her 21st double-double of her career and fourth of the 2025 regular season. Ionescu’s 11 assists were to five different teammates including five registered alongside Breanna Stewart who she’s developed an almost telepathic chemistry with. Ionescu also made sure to find the Liberty’s other front court players in Jonquel Jones and Nyara Sabally for two assists each in addition to wings Leonie Fiebich and Kennedy Burke cutting to the basket off the ball.

Wheeler did her most damage offensively for the Storm in the second quarter when she scored seven of her total 12 points. She took advantage of the Liberty’s switch heavy defense where New York miscommunicated on a bunch of possessions which led to her open looks. With just over four minutes remaining in regulation, Wheeler hit a deep 27-foot three pointer over the outstretched arms of Leonie Fiebich to get the Storm within four points. But with under a minute left, Wheeler tried to sell a foul call while guarding Breanna Stewart which later got overturned by a Liberty challenge. The Storm were in the bonus and as a result Stewart shot two more free throws.

Fiebich matched her own personal records in scoring and three-pointers. It was the first time she she scored over 20 points in addition to racking up five rebounds in her WNBA career. When the Liberty’s offense was struggling to put the ball in the hoop in the first half, Fiebich rose to the challenge and knocked down a bunch of wide open threes in addition to taking slower front court players off the dribble. Shooting 60% from the field on Friday night, Fiebich had her most efficient night scoring the basketball since August 21 when she also shot 60% from the field against the Sky. All of but one of Fiebich’s field goals were assisted as Emma Meesseman, Natasha Cloud and Breanna Stewart all found her for her four shots on the perimeter.

Sidelined since injuring her knee during a July 26 game against the Sparks, Stewart has been cleared to return on Monday. The Liberty did not clarify how much she’ll play, but fantasy managers should anticipate a minutes restriction with this being Stewart’s first game in a month. Emma Meesseman has been the starter in Stewart’s absence, but even if she moves to the bench, the in-season signing will remain prominent in the Liberty rotation. Leonie Fiebich, who has averaged 30 minutes per game since the All-Star break, and Kennedy Burke are two other players whose playing time may decrease with Stewart back in the lineup.

Harrison will remain in concussion protocol after she sustained one following the Liberty’s 83-71 loss to the Lynx on August 10. Without Harrison—yet another front court player in addition to Breanna Stewart and Nyara Sabally who both remain out—the Liberty’s front court rotation shrinks and Jonquel Jones, Emma Meesseman and Kennedy Burke will all have to step up. Expect some more minutes from Leonie Fiebich and Stephanie Talbot at the four spot especially since Burke is still getting back into game-level conditioning.

Stewart will miss her 10th game in a row since she sustained a bone bruise on her right knee during the Liberty’s July 26 game against the Sparks. When she spoke to media members on August 10 before the Liberty took on the Lynx at home, she explained that she prefers to return to play before her birthday on August 27. Since Stewart has been out, the Liberty have been rotating a bunch of players into the four spot including new acquisition Emma Meesseman who has been in her place in the starting lineup. But also Stephanie Talbot and Leonie Fiebich have had to play out of position at the four amid Stewart’s absence. Although with Kennedy Burke back for her second game following missing two and a half weeks with a first degree calf strain, New York will now have some more front court depth leading up to Stewart’s return.

Ionescu had a much more quiet performance on Tuesday night. But quiet doesn’t necessarily mean without impact. She led her team in assists with six, finding Jonquel Jones for four of them in addition to one look each for Emma Meesseman and Leonie Fiebich. Ionsecu hit half of her eight shots, scoring at all three levels, hitting two threes in addition to a mid-range pull up from 19 feet and driving layup at the rim. Ionescu hit her 449th three-pointer and passed teammate Breanna Stewart for 25th on the WNBA All-Time three-pointers list.

Fiebich shot the ball well, her most efficient shooting performance since August 5 against the Wings. After going cold from deep for three straight games at the end of July and into early August, Fiebich has hit two three-pointers in four straight games. She had her most impactful offensive quarter in the third where she scored half of her total points and had half of her total assists. As a result she accounted for 77.8% of her team’s total points in the third quarter. She found Emma Meesseman cutting off the ball and on a high-low pass for three of her four assists in addition to then Marine Johannès on a swing pass for an open three-point make.

Meesseman continues to be on a tear for the Liberty ever since she arrived in New York. On Tuesday night she had her first 20+ point game in the WNBA since she was last in the league in 2022. The Liberty did a much better job of finding Meesseman on mismatches than they did against the Lynx. She often received the ball while being guarded by smaller Sparks players on switches and that resulted in easy Meesseman baskets. She had her best rebounding game so far as a member of the Liberty as Meesseman was just board shy of a double-double. Her four assists were to three different teammates with two going to her former Mystics teammates Natasha Cloud, in addition to a cutting layup from Leonie Fiebich and a wide open corner three-pointer from Marine Johannès.
