Hartley, who did not play in Saturday’s loss to the Lynx, has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus in her right knee and will miss the rest of the season. She appeared in 38 games this season, making 32 starts, averaging 8.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.4 three-pointers in 22.8 minutes. Lindsay Allen started against Minnesota on Saturday and played 22 minutes, but rookie Saniya Rivers replaced her to begin the third quarter. With an eye toward the franchise’s future, Rivers and fellow rookie Leïla Lacan should play plenty in Connecticut’s remaining games.
  • The Sun are without Bria Hartley, who will miss Saturday’s game with a right knee injury. She’s been replaced in the starting lineup by another veteran point guard, with Allen receiving the nod. That’s the only change to Connecticut’s starting five, but Aaliyah Edwards should see her minutes increase with Olivia Nelson-Ododa (back) unavailable.
  • Hartley, a fixture in the Sun starting lineup since late June, will miss Saturday’s game with a right knee injury. Saniya Rivers could move into the starting five, meaning the ball would be in the hands of Leïla Lacan more as Connecticut’s primary playmaker. Another possibility would be for Lindsay Allen to play more minutes, but Rivers and Lacan are the safest plays for fantasy managers seeking a streamer.
  • Charles fueled the Sun in a hard-fought loss to the Fever. While her shot diet wasn’t the most efficient, she scored the basketball in a variety of places. She scored getting advantageous positioning in the paint, she hit mid-range jumpers in between the low and high posts and around the nail. Her teammates in Bria Hartley, Jacy Sheldon and Olivia Nelson-Ododa found her right at her sweet spots. Also Charles hauled down over 27 percent of her team’s total rebounds, successfully using her length and strength to box out the Fever’s front court in Aliyah Boston, Natasha Howard and Damiris Dantas. When the Fever took quick shots and didn’t crash the glass, Charles was often there to secure the ball. The veteran also was a secondary facilitator, racking up three assists on a backdoor cut to rookie Leïla Lacan, in transition to Lindsay Allen and on a high-low pass to rookie Aneesah Morrow.
  • Mabrey suffered a left knee injury during Connecticut’s June 20 game against Dallas, with the issue keeping her out of Sunday’s loss to Golden State. Tuesday afternoon, the Sun announced that she’ll miss at least 2-4 weeks. Bria Hartley started against the Valkyries and will likely retain that spot until Mabrey returns, while Lindsay Allen should also pick up additional playing time.
  • Initially questionable with a left knee injury, Mabrey will sit out the first game of Connecticut’s road trip. Her absence leaves a sizable hole in the Sun starting lineup, as the veteran guard is one of two players averaging double figures in scoring. While Bria Hartley has started games this season, Lindsay Allen is another possibility to fill the void left by Mabrey.
  • Due to a left knee injury, Mabrey is not guaranteed to be available for the first game of Connecticut’s road trip. If she cannot play, that would be a significant loss for the Sun to deal with, as the veteran guard is the team’s second-leading scorer. Either Bria Hartley or Lindsay Allen would likely move into the starting lineup if Mabrey sits.
  • Allen made her season debut Sunday afternoon, serving as Bria Hartley’s backup. Due to the amount of time missed, Allen’s lack of production and playing time aren’t surprising. Hartley played 27 minutes on Sunday, finishing with six points, three rebounds, five assists and two steals. Given how busy the Sun will be next week, as they play four games, Allen’s playing time may not increase much as she works her way back from Achilles and hamstring injuries.
  • Allen is officially available to make her season debut, giving the Sun much-needed depth at point guard. Bria Hartley has served as the starter recently, but her production has not been consistent enough to impact most fantasy leagues. Allen’s availability means Hartley’s playing time will decrease, even if she remains in the starting lineup on Sunday.
  • At long last, Allen is on track to make her season debut. The veteran point guard has missed time with hamstring and Achilles tendon injuries. Bria Hartley has shouldered the point guard responsibilities recently due to Allen’s absence, and her playing time will likely take a significant hit. Rostered in just over four percent of ESPN fantasy leagues, Hartley’s production has not been consistent enough to merit being slotted into lineups.
