Bengals seventh-round DE Wyatt Hubert suffered a torn pectoral during training camp, ending his 2021 season.
The No. 235 overall pick in 2021, Hubert was already facing an uphill battle onto Cincinnati’s game day roster. He previously earned Freshman All-American recognition before going on to lead the team in TFL (25.5 total) and sacks (15.5) in each of the next two seasons while being named First Team All-Big 12 in 2019 and 2020. His athleticism is merely average, as his 5.95 RAS will attest, and short arms impede his ability to shed blockers, but Hubert should still make an impact with limited work from a 4-3 defense if healthy next year.

Bengals selected Kansas State DE Wyatt Hubert with the No. 235 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
As soon as Hubert (6’3/258) stepped on the field in 2018 he proved to be a difference maker for the KSU defense. He earned Freshman All-American recognition before going on to lead the team in TFL (25.5 total) and sacks (15.5) in each of the next two seasons while being named First Team All-Big 12 in 2019 and 2020. His athleticism is merely average, as his 5.95 RAS will attest, and short arms impede his ability to shed blockers. Hubert can get pushed past the QB at times and is limited to 4-3 defensive end work in the NFL. Hubert could have a tough time parlaying his high-effort profile into consistent NFL snaps, but he was very productive at KSU and has the work ethic needed to make a roster. He joins a Cincy defense that had the second worst pass rush in the NFL last year, per PFF.
