Cowboys LB Alex Albright has seen snaps at tight end this summer.
A towering 6-foot-5, 256 pounds, Albright made the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent last season. Playing primarily special teams, he appeared in all 16 games, making 11 tackles. The added bit of versatility will pad Albright’s chances of keeping his roster spot.
  • The Cowboys are expected to give 2012 fourth-round pick Kyle Wilber a chance to be their starting strong-side linebacker.
Dallas has a need at SAM in the new 4-3, and Wilber is considered the favorite over Alex Albright. The Cowboys won’t add to this position in free agency, but could in the draft. Wilber was a stand-up defensive end at Wake Forest. He would probably be a two-down player, replaced by a defensive back in the nickel.
  • FA Linebacker #55
Cowboys LB Alex Albright is recovering from a sports hernia operation.
The reserve linebacker is expected to be fine for training camp. Albright notched 31 tackles in 14 games last season, playing 185 snaps.
  • FA Linebacker #55
Cowboys released LB Alex Albright with an injury settlement.
Albright was waived/injured last month, and reverted to injured reserve. Apparently recovered from his back operation, he’ll search for special teams work.
  • FA Linebacker #55
Cowboys LB Alex Albright suffered a back injury in Saturday’s preseason game against the Cardinals and is done for the season.
Albright, 25, was competing for a special teams role. He’ll likely be waived/injured this week and placed on injured reserve.
  • FA Linebacker #55
    Cowboys waived/injured LB Alex Albright.
Albright needs back surgery after suffering a severe injury in Dallas’ second preseason game. He’d been competing primarily for a special teams job.
