    Alex McRae has signed with the Lake County Dockhounds of the independent American Association.
    McRae made a pair of relief appearances for the White Sox last season, but spent the majority of the year at Triple-A Charlotte, posting an underwhelming 5.38 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 86/42 K/BB ratio across 88 2/3 innings (26 appearances, 18 starts). The 28-year-old righty will look to rebuild his value in the independent American Association next season.

    McRae has refused an outright minor-league assignment and will head to free agency this offseason. The 28-year-old righty reliever made just two appearances at the big-league level for the White Sox this past season, but wound up tossing 88 2/3 frames over 26 appearances (18 starts) at Triple-A Charlotte. He should be able to latch on as an innings-eater somewhere this offseason.
