Packers selected Florida State LT Andrew Datko with the No. 241 overall pick in the 2012 draft.

Datko had borderline first-round grades from NFL scouts entering his senior season. He underwent shoulder surgery during the 2011 spring, however, and reinjured the shoulder during the year. Datko stands 6-foot-6, 315 and has fairly long arms at 33 7/8 inches. A 40-game starter in college, all of them came at left tackle for Datko. He’s absolutely worth the “risk” late in round seven. Datko could emerge as a future starter if he gets the shoulder right.

Packers agreed to terms with No. 241 overall pick OT Andrew Datko on a four-year contract.

Datko was a rare true freshman all-American at left tackle for Florida State, but ongoing left shoulder woes plagued his junior and senior seasons. Viewed as a second-day prospect before surgery ended his 2011 season early, Datko now insists his shoulder has never felt better. He’s a worthwhile low-risk, high-reward late-round pick by Green Bay.

Packers seventh-round OT Andrew Datko saw first-team reps for a “brief stretch” in offseason practices.

Viewed as an early-round talent before ongoing shoulder issues ended his 2011 season, Datko alternated between left and right tackle in OTAs and minicamp. Feeling healthier entering training camp than he has in a couple of years, Datko could make a quick move up the depth chart.

    Packers waived OT Andrew Datko.

Datko allowed two sacks and three hurries in the preseason finale. He was the No. 241 overall pick in last year’s draft out of Florida State.

Packers OT Andrew Datko has been diagnosed with a concussion.

That won’t help the 2012 seventh-rounder’s odds of making the team. Datko spent last season on the practice squad.
