    Chiefs signed QB Anthony Gordon.
The Chiefs brought Gordon in last off-season as well, but he was waived as part of roster cutdowns in August. He spent the season on the Broncos’ practice squad. He’ll get another chance to unseat Chad Henne as Patrick Mahomes’ backup but will more likely land on a practice squad in 2022.

Chiefs signed QB Anthony Gordon to a reserve/future contract.
A hyped undrafted free agent last spring, Gordon could not unseat Geno Smith for backup duties in Seattle. A Mike Leach disciple, Gordon also has a baseball background like Chiefs starter Patrick Mahomes. Gordon nevertheless has a pop-gun arm, and is limited athletically. The Chiefs have needed an upgrade in their No. 2 spot for a while now, but Gordon is unlikely to provide it.

    Seahawks waived QB Anthony Gordon.
Gordon (6’2/205) pushed Geno Smith as the team’s backup early on but struggled towards the end of camp. Coach Mike Leach notably praised Gordon’s ability to make pre-snap reads in the Air Raid at Washington State, but the rookie still ranked as Pro Football Focus’ No. 152 among 153 FBS quarterbacks in percentage of pass attempts that traveled at least 20 yards downfield (8%). He’ll likely revert to the team’s practice squad.

Seahawks signed Washington State QB Anthony Gordon.
Gardner Minshew’s 2019 replacement at Wazzu, Gordon (6’2/205) threw for more yards (429) and touchdowns (3.69) per game than his predecessor did in 2018. Gordon’s background in baseball — he was drafted by the Mets as a pitcher — allowed him to make accurate out of structure throws, but coach Mike Leach particularly praised his ability to make pre-snap reads in the Air Raid. His physical profile did limit him vertically, however. Per PFF, he ranked 152nd of 153 FBS quarterbacks in percentage of pass attempts that traveled at least 20 yards downfield (8%), and finished the season with -20 rushing yards. Potentially maxed out as a nearing 24-year-old rookie, Gordon will have to prove himself as a practice squad No. 3 before getting in the backup mix.
