Walker Buehler O/U 7.5 Strikeouts vs. Mariners

The Seattle Mariners are on a slide, losing three of its last four games and five of the previous eight. The LA Dodgers are 4-13 in the last 17 games and 1-5 over the previous six, making for what could be a surprisingly competitive matchup.

Buehler has started to turn his season around, recording eight or more strikeouts in three-straight games after three consecutive four K performances to open the season.

Buehler struck out the Padres nine times, the Reds 10 times and Cubs eight times over the previous three games. He has totaled 27 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched on 92-plus pitches in all three.

His pitch count average has risen from the first three games to his previous three. Buehler averages 96.3 pitches in his past three games compared to 91.0 in the first three.

He has thrown 90 or more pitches in all six games this season and 89 or more in 10-straight, dating back to last season’s playoffs.

NBC’s model projects 7.5 strikeouts in 6.2 innings for Buehler. That is the second-most strikeouts on the slate behind Shane Bieber and with how Buehler has pitched lately, it is hard to fade him.

The Dodgers will lean heavily on Buehler as they look to end this losing streak. Buehler is 1-0 on the season with a 3.13 ERA and five no-decisions. He has pitched 6.0 innings, or more in all six starts this season and eight-straight dating back to the postseason.

Buehler has only faced Kyle Seager, Mitch Haniger and J.P. Crawford from the Mariners. The rest of the lineup will be facing Buehler for the first time.

The trio for Seattle does not have a hit in seven plate appearances with two strikeouts and one walk for a .000 batting average. [[ad:athena]]

The Mariners have the ninth-most strikeouts over the last 15 days (121) and hitting .198 (last). On the season, Seattle is hitting .218 versus right-handed pitchers (26th) and strike out 28.5% of their at-bats.

Texas Rangers’ Dane Dunning lit Seattle up for 10 strikeouts on Sunday. The Mariners are 1-3 in the 2020 regular-season meetings with the Dodgers and allowed Clayton Kershaw to record 11 Ks. Buehler or Trevor Bauer could be the only Dodger this year to hit double-digit Ks versus the Mariners with how this rotation has looked.

Buehler has only pitched against the Mariners once in his entire career. The last time was 8/17/2018 and he recorded eight strikeouts in 6.0 innings and earned the victory.

With Buehler’s strikeouts more than doubling over the past three games compared to the first three, plus Seattle being a prime opportunity to earn a win, I like Buehler to go Over 7.5 strikeouts for the fourth-straight game.

I would not play this past the 7.5 strikeouts or at -150 odds.

Pick: Walker Buehler Over 7.5 Strikeouts (1u)
